If you’re looking for some of the freshest sushi in San Diego, Sushi on the Rock in La Jolla is right at the top of the list. Personally, it’s my favorite sushi restaurant in all of San Diego. I start every meal here with the Sashimi Tower (Layers of Dungeness crab, avocado, and your choice of tuna, salmon or hamachi topped with masago & a wasabi aioli). It’s a perfect starter and you can’t go wrong with this dish. I’m not a salmon lover so I always order this thing with the tuna and it’s just a perfect combination of flavors. My favorite rolls here are the Kitchen Sink (Fresh water eel, krab, avocado & cream cheese roll, layered in salmon, cooked tempura style & topped with eel sauce and sirracha aioli), and The Don (Grilled shrimp, asparagus, krab, avocado, sprouts, & cucumber roll layered with tuna & topped with a cilantro Serrano chili & garlic ponzu sauce) but I’ve never had a roll here that I didn’t like. The fish is just so fresh here every single time.
