Buddakan NYC

If I’m ever on death row and they offer me one last meal, Buddakan in NYC just might by my choice for a farewell dinner. Hip and trendy, this restaurant over in the meatpacking district of New York City is just plain awesome. The restaurant is dimly lit throughout the restaurant and that adds to the great vibe you feel once you step inside the doors. They have a few different sections where the look and feel is completely different but no matter where you sit you’re just happy to be there. The drink menu is filled with cocktails with such as ”Fate”, “Tranquility”, and “Tempest” which are $12 a drink but hey..this is New York..that’s pretty much par for the course at any nice restaurant or bar. The menu is loaded with amazing sounding appetizers and every single plate I saw being delivered to a table, I pretty much wanted to order it. The combination of looks and smells of the foods being served was driving me crazy. I was envisioning the two people at the table next to me leaving thier table for a bathroom break so I could steal a little of their food…but it didn’t happen. Too many of the apps sounds amazing but we started off with General Tso’s Dumplings and the Deviled Tuna Tartare. Wow. Talk about an incredible combination of flavors. A meal doesn’t really start any better than this. For our entre items we ordered the Glazed Alaskan Black Cod and Sizzling Short Ribs. Both entres were insanely good. I tried to eat slowly (which the wife always tries to remind me of) but I couldn’t stop wolfing the food down. After the entres I was full…but that’s never the end when you’re in a restaurant this good. We had to try a desert. When in Rome right? After a bit of debating, the Chocolate Peanut Butter Bombe is what we settled on. What a great end to a great meal. I’ll be back next time I’m in NYC no doubt.
